It seems that nothing is sacred nowadays. The newest TV show to get a Hollywood makeover is none other than that Sid & Marty Kroft classic Land of the Lost
. Now a remake isn't always bad (like Get Smart
), but they aren't always good (like Popeye
). Many times they just fall inbetween (like Speed Racer
). But this time, I am afeared.
The new Land of the Lost
is starring Will Ferrell as Rick Marshal, who is now a park ranger. As far as I can gather, Will and Holly are no longer his kids -- they are his co-workers. And Chaka, the pakuni, is going to be played by 31-year old SNL alumni. The only possible saving grace is that the Sleestak are back and they look like the Sleestak from the Saturday morning cartoon.
I am filled with trepidation. I am foreseeing another pleasant childhood memory being trampled to death.
